Data Licensors vs Polyshares: how two direct buyers of company records compare

Verdict

Pick Polyshares if you want a buyer that publishes its own completed deals, with four case studies from $110,000 to $450,000, each a perpetual exclusive license. Pick Data Licensors, which publishes this page, if you want payment within 30 days of signing and a public ledger to check any offer against; it publishes no completed deals or price of its own. Both charge no fee, so compare written offers side by side.

Data Licensors wrote this page. We are one of the two companies compared, so read it with that in mind. Everything about Polyshares comes from its own public pages, checked in October 2026, and everything about us comes from our own pages.

How do Data Licensors and Polyshares differ in what they buy?

Both license a de-identified copy of a company's operating record directly and supply AI labs. The record types overlap closely: chat, email, files, CRM, tickets, accounting exports and call recordings. Polyshares takes any company with real operating history in any sector and says texture matters more than headcount (Polyshares data licensing page, October 2026). Data Licensors publishes no minimum. It cites its market range for companies with 20 to 500 staff and names trades and field service, logistics, manufacturing, and office-based firms and agencies (Data Licensors homepage, October 2026).

How is the price set?

Both review a de-identified sample before pricing. Polyshares makes an offer within one to two weeks of intake, and Data Licensors sends a written offer in 1 to 2 weeks. Polyshares publishes more about price: it names what raises it (depth of history, visible reasoning, a specialized domain, clean rights) and what caps it (Polyshares, September 2026). It also publishes four case studies with dollar figures: a roofing company ($450,000), a general contractor ($300,000), a solar company ($275,000) and a marketing agency ($110,000). Company names are kept confidential, so we could not confirm them independently.

Data Licensors does not publish a price or completed deals of its own. The $100K to $1.2M range on our homepage comes from other companies' deals, not our own payouts. We publish a deal ledger of other companies' deals and offers, each linked to its source, so you can compare any offer, ours included. See how much company data is worth.

When do you get paid, and on what terms?

Data Licensors says it pays within 30 days of signing. Polyshares pays net 30 to 60 once the data is approved, anonymized and delivered, and says it does not pay for a record it has not seen. The two clocks start at different points, so ask each for the expected date funds arrive. Neither charges the company a fee.

Polyshares says its licenses are exclusive by default, meaning the records go to one licensee unless agreed otherwise. Our pages do not state whether our licenses are exclusive or set a standard term; the example offer on our homepage shows a 2-year license, but it is an example, so ask us. We delete the original, identifiable export within 30 days of delivering the de-identified version (Data Licensors data processing page, October 2026). Polyshares has a specialist partner remove names and contact details before Polyshares or any buyer sees the record, and does not disclose which labs take which data. Our pages do not name the labs we license to either.

Which one suits your company?

Polyshares suits owners who want to see a buyer's own completed deals, smaller companies with a deep history, and those who want one counterparty and a fixed offer quickly. Its two managing partners have founded, bought and sold companies, including Roofer.com and Simplicity Solar (Polyshares team page, October 2026). Data Licensors suits companies with 20 to 500 staff that want to choose what is included, export records themselves without sharing passwords, and check an offer against public market data.

What should you ask both?

  • Is the license exclusive, for how long, and can I license the same records elsewhere?
  • How long from signing, or delivery, to funds received?
  • Will you tell me which labs receive the records?
  • Can I see the written offer and full license terms before deciding?
