Labelbox Prism vs Scale AI: which pays more for company data?

Verdict

Pick Labelbox Prism if you want an upfront fee at signing plus a revenue share, and a stated path of under 21 days from first call to first wire. Pick Scale AI if you want data de-identified inside your own environment, sign-off on each package and a small first scope that can grow into recurring revenue. Prism licenses are exclusive by default and Scale does not publish payment timing, so get both in writing.

How do Labelbox Prism and Scale AI differ in what they buy?

Both license records from the systems where work happens: CRM, ticketing, chat, email and ERP. Prism also lists code repositories, IDE session logs, financial and scientific reasoning traces, and codebases from shut-down startups. Its homepage marks cross-system Salesforce, Jira and Slack workflows as urgent demand (Labelbox Prism, October 2026). Scale lists data warehouse tables from BigQuery, Snowflake and Databricks, and names industries such as MSPs, insurance brokerage, field services, freight and property management (Scale AI data partnerships page, October 2026).

The larger difference is where de-identification happens. Scale says it anonymizes data inside your environment before extraction, offers options to process on your own servers or private cloud, and has you sign off on each data package. Prism tokenizes names, emails and internal IDs before data leaves, and its FAQ says the data then leaves your environment.

How is the price set?

Prism gives a written quote within 48 hours of a free, non-binding scoping call. It says smaller targeted datasets start around $50K, large enterprise deals can reach $1M+, and added exclusivity requirements are reflected in the price. Scale labels its $10K to $1M+ figure illustrative and says value scales with how often data is delivered. Both ranges reach $1M+, so on published figures neither clearly pays more. Prism's floor is higher, around $50K against Scale's $10K. For how other programs compare, see AI data partnership programs.

When do you get paid, and on what terms?

Prism pays an upfront licensing fee at signing plus a revenue share on downstream use. Licenses are exclusive by default. Each license has a kill clause, a right to force deletion within 30 days for material breach, regulatory change or an agreed change-of-control trigger. Its How It Works page also describes revocation with 90-day notice. Prism notes that models already trained on the data cannot unlearn it (Labelbox Prism FAQ, October 2026).

Scale does not publish payment timing or structure. It describes ongoing partnerships designed so there is opportunity for recurring revenue. Neither program page states whether any fee is deducted from what you receive.

Which one suits your company?

Prism suits companies whose work runs through Salesforce, Jira, Slack, SAP, ServiceNow or Zendesk, owners who want cash at signing, and wound-down companies, which Prism says are some of its most active sellers. Scale suits companies with 40 or more employees that want to start with one workflow, keep identities inside their own systems, and can name an internal owner to approve packages and keep reviews moving.

What should you ask both?

  • Is the license exclusive, and how much does exclusivity add to the price?
  • How is the revenue share or recurring payment calculated, reported and paid?
  • When is the first payment made for my scope?
  • What leaves my environment, and where is it stored?
  • How much staff time will package reviews take?
  • Prism: which applies to my license, the 90-day revocation notice or the 30-day kill clause?
